Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I hire a makeup artist?
Makeup artists are trained professionals who know how to properly apply makeup for being photographed. If you want your makeup to be flawless in professional photography, it is a great idea to hire a makeup artist for your special day. As a makeup artist, I also have the proper knowledge and supplies in order to take some stress off of you on your big day.

Do you provide hair services?
I am not certified in hair and cannot preform any hair services on the day of your event. I CAN contract a hair stylist for you depending on their availability. If the artists I normally work with are available on your event date, I can work with you on complete package deals (hair and makeup) for your big day. If you want to choose your own hair stylist, that is completely fine too! Whatever works best for you.

Do you collaborate with other artists?
I love supporting local artists and collaborating on awesome projects. If you are looking to build your event portfolio, please contact me!

Do you offer air brush services?
Currently, I am only offering traditional makeup applications. If you are really wanting airbrush, feel free to contact me. It is something that will be added to my menu in the future and I may be able to book you for that service depending on your event date.

How do I book with you?
Once you decide to book, a signed contract and 50% deposit will secure the date. The remaining 50% is due the day of the event. Please be aware that dates are booked on a first come, first serve basis and are not final until a contract and deposit are received. A verbal agreement via email/phone will not be sufficient to book your date.

Should I book a trial run?
For event makeup, it is helpful but not necessary. For bridal makeup, I highly suggest it. Wedding day is often super stressful and not really the time to iron out the details of what you want. In order to guarantee satisfaction on your big day, let's do a trial run! It will be a 45 minute session where I chart out the look for your event.

What form of payment do you accept?
I accept the following forms of payment: check, cash, venmo, paypal.
Tips are encouraged but not required.

Will you travel to my location/venue?
Yes, I am more than willing to travel for a job! The first thirty miles outside of downtown Columbia are on the house! Anything after that, I charge 75 cents per mile. If you want an exact figure, feel free to email me the location of your venue and I will calculate the cost.

Can we meet to discuss the details?
Yes, I actually insist! When you contract with me, you will receive a complimentary consultation because I want us to be completely on the same page. This is generally a 30 minute meeting where we will get to know each other, discuss your vision for your big day, and answer any questions you may have.

How should I prepare for the big day?
I ask that when we meet you do a few simple things beforehand in order to guarantee flawless results on your big day! These are your preparations for going glam:
-do not try any new skincare or makeup products within a week of your event as to avoid unwanted reactions on your big day
-come in a white shirt so that your makeup reflects how you will actually look in your beautiful, white dress
-come with a clean face. no mascara, eyeliner, bb cream, etc. we will be going glam once you get here, so have a clean canvas.
-I also recommend that you purchase your wedding day lipstick before the day of the event. This is so you have your lipstick throughout the night for any necessary touch ups. I personally recommend Kat Von D's Everlasting Liquid Lipstick or another liquid lipstick formula because it will be the most low maintenance for your busy day. If you are having trouble picking out a shade, contact me and I can give you some suggestions! If you don't want to purchase a lipstick, I will have plenty of lipsticks on site too.

How long does application take?
This really depends on your schedule and is something we will have to discuss further during your consultation. But general time frames are as follows:
Bride: 45min-1hr
Bridal Party: 30-45min
Special Event: 45 min
Editorial: 45min-1hr
Body paint/SFX: 1-3 hrs

ADDITIONAL SERVICES WILL TAKE EXTRA TIME (such as: lash application, tattoo cover-up, etc).  These are all estimates and a consultation is necessary to come up with an event day schedule.

How do you keep your products sanitary?
Sanitation is one of the most important things to a professional makeup artist. Before each event, I wash all of my brushes/instruments and disinfect my powder products with cosmetic sanitizer.  I clean my brushes with fast drying antibacterial brush cleaner between clients and I often have multiple brush sets for when I have more than one client. For cream/liquid products, I clean with sanitizing wipes, use spatulas and mixing palettes, or sharpen the products between uses. I use disposables for ALL mascara or liquid lipstick application.
